Vopak Terminal Europoort

In partnership with Vopak, ZERO Fire Systems (ZFS) have set a new standard for the fire safety of jetties. The parties have done this by implementing a unique automatic extinguishing and cooling system on the Vingerpier.

  • Simple operation of valve station thanks to expertise of ZERO Fire Systems.
  • For this project, the customer took advantage of the total package (advice, engineering, implementation and ITM) from ZERO Fire Systems.
  • Customer was so satisfied that ZERO Fire Systems have also been asked to make other jetties fireproof.

Valve station

The entire system consists of multiple fire monitors at height, a foam extinguishing system and a cooling system. It is fed from a valve station, the heart of the system, on the pier. It is possible to operate all fire cannons at height from the control room of this valve station, with just a push of a button. The cooling system, capable of producing 23,000 litres per minute, and the two foam extinguishing systems can also be started from the control room at the push of a button. This fire protection system is fully remote-controlled and can therefore be operated outside the risk area.

New standard

ZFS set up the fire protection plan for this unique station, which was then converted into a concept design, basic design and detail design. Working with its partners, ZFS handled and coordinated the complete implementation of this project. Vopak were so satisfied with this solution that want this system to be installed on all its other jetties in the coming months.
